The
family of Osama Bin Laden arrived in
Jeddah (a city located on the coast
of the Red Sea and the major urban
center of western Saudi Arabia.
It is the largest city in Makkah Province, the largest sea port on the Red Sea, and the second largest city in
the country after the capital city, Riyadh) and
was received at the airport by some members of the family, an official source
said for Tolerancia Real. “The
Kingdom dealt with this matter on humanitarian grounds and after understanding
that there is no evidence on their involvement in any crimes or illegal
activities,” the source said. “It is not sound to dwell into details affecting
the privacy of the Binladen family,”
the source said, adding that the family’s travel was facilitated on the request
of Binladens in the Kingdom.
According
to one report, the family that arrived from Pakistan included three widows and 11 children, who were detained
by Pakistani security forces after the May 2, 2011 raid. This day, Osama bin Laden, the former head
of the Islamist militant group al-Qaeda known for the September 11 attacks in New
York, USA, was killed in Pakistan, shortly after 1 am local time by a
United States special operations
military unit. A
Pakistani court sentenced the women to 45 days in prison this month for
entering Pakistan illegally and
ordered their deportation after the end of the prison term, which began on
March 3 when they were formally arrested. "The plane
carrying Amal and (her brother) Zakariya al-Sadeh and the rest of the
family is heading to Jeddah,"

At the
house in Islamabad where the
relatives had been held, a white minivan pulled up to take them to the airport.
The women refused to enter the van with a crush of media around it, so
officials covered its windows with plastic sheets. The Interior Ministry, which
was in charge of the family, said in a statement it had "passed orders for
the deportation of 14 members of Osama
bin Laden family in pursuance of the Court orders". "The family
was kept safe and sound in a guest house. They have been deported to the
country of their choice, Saudi Arabia."
it said.
The bin Laden family, also spelled bin Ladin, is a wealthy family intimately connected with
the innermost circles of the Saudi royal family. The family was
thrown into media spotlight through the activities of Osama bin Laden. The financial interests of the bin Laden family are represented by the Saudi Binladin Group, a global oil and equity managementconglomerate grossing $5 billion US annually,
and the largest construction firm in the world, with offices in London and Geneva.
